Day to Night: Orange makeup look

Summer is coming! It's time to test out new colors and leave the boring neutrals to fall and winter. I've never tried putting orange on my eyelids because the color is a bit intimidating, but for the sake of this blog... challenge accepted!

Turns out, orange is a really wearable color, I just need to find the right clothes to match the eye make-up.

Day look

Night look

.

Day look
Starting with a bare face, apply bb cream all over the face

Apply primer all over eyelid

Apply a yellow gold eyeshadow on the inner corners

Apple an orange eyeshadow on the outer corners

Blend the two colors together with the yellow gold eyeshadow

Using a brown pencil eyeliner, tightline and draw a fine line on the upper lashline

Then, draw a thin line with brown eyeliner

Using Benefit's eye bright (or any white/champagne colored eyeshadow), highlight the browbone and inner corners of the eyes, and blend

Curl lashes

Apply mascara

.

Night look
Just darken up the eye makeup!

Apply a dark brown eyeshadow on the outer corner and blend!

Apply purple eyeliner on the upper and lower lashline

Apply blush, I used a neutral colored one

I like to do some contouring on my nose, apply brown eyeshadow or brown eyeliner on the sides of the nose and blend out, blend a white/champagne colored eyeshadow on the bridge of your nose

I didn't want to use a black eyeliner because I wanted the eye make-up to look fun and colorful, but feel free to use black or any color eyeliner that would match orange! I see myself using the same steps with a bright pink or a bright green. ;)

Products used:
1) day look
primer or white cream eyeshadow
yellow gold eyeshadow
orange eyeshadow
brown eyeliner

coral lipstick
neutral colored blush
mascara
eyebrow pencil
foundation or bb cream
concealer

2) night look
medium brown eyeshadow
dark brown eyeshadow
purple eyeliner
more yellow gold eyeshadow
falsies

Review: Freeman Feeling Beautiful

Recently, I bought 7 different Freeman Feeling Beautiful masks and I have to say, the results are splendid! I purchased them all at my local Wal-Mart at $2.77 before tax (I bought a few of the collection at $3.77 before it sells at $2.77). Each bottle has 150ml (or 6 fl. oz.) As of now, I have the following:

1) Facial Clay Mask: Chocolate & Strawberry
This clay mask deeply cleanses your pores, reduces the appearance of large pores, and gives you a moistured face. The aroma of the clay mask is, I would say, too sweet. As much as I love to eat sweet stuffs, this one is just too much! However, it does provide me a clean and fine face. This one is perfect for those who have normal and dry skin. I like to use it on my cheeks only, or where it tends to be dry.

2) Facial Clay Mask: Avocado & Oatmeal
The Avocado & Oatmeal clay mask removes oil and dirt, and it makes your skin clean and soft. Personally, this one is one of my favourite among the ones I have because I can clearly see that the mask reduced the size of my pores and my face didn't feel stretched like other masks that I've used. Also, the scent is magnificent for those who love avocado. I like to apply it on my forehead, nose and chin or any oily areas of your face. I highly recommend this mask!

3) Facial Clay Mask: Mint & Lemon
Just like the Chocolate & Strawberry one, this mask deeply cleanses your pores. It moderates the oil production of your face and reduces large pores. It has a light scent of lemon and mint. I usually apply it on my t-zone, or even sometimes on my nose because of my combination skin. It has the exact same effects as the Chocolate & Strawberry one, except that this one would be favored by people who have oily skin.

4) Facial Anti-Stress Mask: Dead Sea Minerals
Another one of my favorite, this anti-stress mask purifies and clears pores. The clay mask smells like if you are in the sea, which I LOVE! I can see a whitening effect  after using the mask. I love how the color of the mask is an "electric" blue-like. My pores definitely feel cleaner after using it. The only problem I experienced was that the mask stained a bit my hands. Except for that minor problem, I absolutely recommend this one for everyone!

5) Facial Peel-Off Mask: Cucumber
This mask removes dead skin and impurities while it smoothes the face. The texture of this mask is like a gel, so you have to be careful when applying it on your face. Make sure to apply it evenly or else the mask will not dry, or you will spend a lot of time removing it! It is said that people who have normal or combination skin are recommended to use this mask. Since the mask is too sticky, I suggest using plastic gloves or anything to protect your hands from getting messy from the mask. The only result I had from using it was a clean face, nothing else. Not recommended for the effects it stated to give, but it's definitely fun to remove!

6) Facial Enzyme Mask: Pineapple
This mask claims to restore radiant skin, but personally I do not think so. I love how the mask has a gel-liquid like consistency and it smells like a real pineapple. I was expecting a lot from it since it would be good for my combination-skin face. Unfortunately, the mask did not give me the "radiant" look it described on the bottle. It did give me a clean face, but this mask is a no-no for Ro. :(

7) Body Sugar Scrub: Pomegranate
This body scrub exfoliates your skin to create a healthy and soft body. It has a pomegranate scent and yet the scent is not too strong that makes me feel uncomfortable. I also love the texture, which feels like real sugar! It is important not to rub too hard on your body or else your body will feel too dry (just like when you scrub your face, scrub it slowly!) I use this body scrub for about 2 to 3 times per week. The body scrub does make my body feel softer, especially on my feet and arms.

It is important to have a clean face before using the masks. All of them are made with natural ingredients and have decent results. I mostly use the masks at night because it gives me a fresh skin, but make sure to use a toner and a moisturizer after using it!

Considering the price and the quality of the masks, I would have to say that this collection is good for those who cannot afford high end brands skin care.

Ro

We are back!

How long has it been since our last post...? We are TERRIBLY sorry for not keeping up with the blog! Since Cat & Mi have summer school, and Ro is not good at organizing his schedule (and was busy with his house renovations), it is hard for us 3 to meet up and write blogs.

No worries, since Ro is now back to the internet world, this blog will be up-to-date (Hope so!).

Until then, tataaa!~

Sasa haul: June 2012

Here's a sasa haul:

1) Hydra Intensive Blemish Balm | Dr. G
People were really raving on this product, and it's apparently the best bb cream for those who have acne prone/oily skin (AKA me). We'll have to see if the hype was worth it when I'll use this product later! The price was approximately $33USD (already on sale with 20% off, original price around $42~) This bb cream is a bit more expensive than the others I've tried, we'll see if it's worth the price. I took several pictures with my iphone, since it was so late.

.

2) AQUAMOIST Hyaluronic Acid Washing Foam | JUJU Cosmetics (left) &
AQUAMOIST Moisture HA Bubble Facial Wash | JUJU Cosmetics (right)

These two products are definitely worth trying. Apparently reviewers think it's a better product than the hadalabo AHA BHA cleanser which I think it's already a very good face cleanser in terms of the effect, price and quality. I can't wait to try and compare.

*Sorry bout' the feet!*

.

3) Long Mascara | Dollywink

I heard amazing reviews on this mascara: holds curls, no smudging, long lasting and easy to wash off. I HATE mascara that are hard to take off...and almost all my waterproof mascaras are like that! This product is around $16USD. I think it's quite expensive considering a japanese drugstore mascara, usually drugstore mascaras are around $5-10CAD. Again, we'll have to see if it's worth trying.

.

4) No. 73 Wide Eyelash Curler | Koji

Mi has one, and I've tried her's and guess what? I love it. I don't even need to make a review on it because it's definitely my holy grail eyelash curler. I personally love the shiseido one, but it's so expensive! As a student, I know that we usually have budgets and shiseido isn't the first pick for us. Koji, on the other hand, is around $5 USD which is a quarter of the price of a shiseido eyelash curler.

I think the promotion free shipping on orders over $19 USD is still on, time to do more online shopping!

Summer Essentials

Summer is officially here in 4 days, so it's time to get all the summer gear out! Summer essentials are subjective to personal tastes, but there are a few basics that everyone should use every day to protect us against the heat and the strong UV rays.

Summer essentials 2012 edition

> Starting from clothing accessories, we can finally switch our beanies for a summer hat, a cap, or a fedora! I personally don't like hats since I find them big and bulky, but on hot summer days, I don't like to feel my scalps burning. Your scalps can suffer from sun damage just like your skin do. And of course, we can't forget sunglasses to protect our fragile eyes! Sunglasses, like hats, can match so many outfits and add an instant I-look-like-a-movie-star vibe. They come in different shapes that could enhance our facial features or conceal our dark circles/lack of make-up.

> Blotting papers are a must in summer, especially for people who puts make-up. Just use a blotting paper and gently pat it on your face to remove sweat and oil, by patting your face (not wiping), you won't take off any of your makeup

> We don't like burned lips. So lip balm with SPF is important for any one of us, yes even guys! I personally like Kiehl's lip balm because it gives a lip gloss effect. The SPF on this lip balm doesn't prevent you from applying it just before you go to bed, you'll wake up with moisturized & smooth lips. ;)

> Summer isn't just about the looks, but also about the smell. The Dove body fragrance is definitely a must-buy. I discovered it 2 years ago and I'm still loving it. Affordable and smells good, it's a good choice for those who don't like to carry a perfume in their bags all day long...(who does that?)  Deodorant is definitely your bff during summer time because no one likes smelly armpits, I swear.

> Last but not least, how can we forget sunscreen. It's the most important part of our summer essentials because of its core protection for our face and body. UV rays are responsible for the pre-maturation of skin that leads to the formation of wrinkles. For those who are pale or prone to coloration, I highly recommend the Sofina Perfect UV 50 SPF PA+++. It's a non-sticky formula with whitening properties. I usually pour a generous amount (around the size of 2 loonies) on my palm and then apply it on my whole face and neck. This formula is really good for those who wants a matte finish. It's more of a watery consistency and absorbs very quickly. I believe Sofina is only available in asian countries, so if you can't get your hand on it, Shiseido's sunscreen is an excellent alternative. Shiseido's sunscreen has a thicker consistency when compared to Sofina. It offers a 55SPF and PA+++.

PA+++ (more "+" means more protection) is really important because it helps to protect us from UVA rays that causes long-term skin damage. The sun protection factor (SPF) protects us from UVB rays that causes sunburn.  So when choosing a sunscreen, please be aware of the amount of protection that you can get. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outdoors, and your sunscreen should be applied before any makeup primer and foundation.

Enjoy the sun safely, reapply sunscreen every two hours ;)

Who are we?

Who we really are...?

Three good friends who are inspired by makeup, skincare and other types of beauty products. All three of us are currently university second year students in different field of studies.

Why suddenly starting a beauty blog...?

We've always been wanting to start a blog or a youtube channel, but we were afraid of all the criticism. However, we've overcome this fear and that's why we are here. We really are here to share our honest opinions and our take on several approaches such as inspired looks, OOTD and many more.

Our background and skin type

Ro: Combination skin, enlarged pores, dry cheeks
Cat: Oily/combination skin, normal/dry cheecks, t-zone extremely oily, acne prone, acne blemish, a few freckles, serious eyebags (So unfortunate!! :( )
Mi: Normal/dry skin, few acnes/blemish on forehead

Enjoy ♥

Glymm Box June 2012

Got my june Glymm box exactly 4.5 hours ago! I really like receiving Glymm and Luxe boxes, it's like a monthly surprise treat! Sometimes I do get disappointed with the beauty products I get, and I'll probably cut the Glymm box or the Luxe box because I find that the products they give are similar.

Ok, I cheated, I opened the Glymm box before taking pictures!

.

I really like their new bags, it's more eco-friendly and handy, I use them to put my make-up and other small items, but after 12 months, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the 12 little pouches. I actually really like their old pink boxes! Compared to luxe boxes, I think glymm boxes have prettier packaging and I like to keep their little pink boxes to put old birthday cards, wrap paper, etc.

I received 5 beauty products in total this month. Last month, a pink pouch was given, at least I'm getting different colored pouches.
